Radio Sagarmatha bags another award

NEFEJ run Radio Sagarmatha is honored by yet another prestigious international award.

According to Lord Young of Norwood Green, chairperson of One World Broadcasting Trust, Radio Sagarmatha has been selected by the One World Broadcasting Trustees as the winner of this year’s Special Award for broadcast media.

According to One World Broadcasting Trust," there are of course many worthwhile broadcast endeavors in the developing world, and our intention through this Special Award of the evening is to highlight one exceptional project, which can be seen as leading the way and offering a model for others."

Lord Young of Norwood Green says in a letter to Radio Sagarmatha, "the Trustees received a large number of nominations from as far apart as Guatemala, Zambia and Burma. According to him, it was inevitably a very difficult choice for them, but Radio Sagarmatha stood out because of its long-standing reputation as one of the first independent public-interest radio stations in South Asia, and the continued efforts to bring credible information to the audiences in an engaging and interactive way. The Trustees were unanimous in their choice. "
