Climate Change Watch

Climate Change Watch Program (CCWP) under Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) has been involved in conducting interaction sessions and trainings for journalists. All the programs are oriented towards dissemination of information on climate change in general and impact and adaptation in particular among environmental journalists, policymakers and the common people.

The unit was set up in the wake of the reality whereby while Nepal is not on the list of nation which are dubiously contributing to global warming it is one of those nation in the Third World which was exposed to the fallout of global warming and resultant climate change. More so in the wake of the reality whereby the state has not yet come up with National Adaptation Plan of Action (NAPA) which could go a long way in sensitizing the farming community and others on the adaptation techniques while climate change is already taking heavy toll in the Himalayas and the tarai flatland.

Such being the state of affairs, CCWP is planning activities aimed at boosting the capacity of journalists covering environment and agriculture by conducting series of training sessions by roping in experts in the field. This is being planned with the objective of evolving the media as an informed entity which can be expected to step up pressure on successive government to attend the problems thrown up by the global warming and resultant climate change.
