KATHMANDU: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) has elected a new Executive Committee (EC) following election on Friday, October 16.
However the election to the 13 vacant positions of central members, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and President was consensus, with only one contender for the respective positions with the exception of the General Secretary.
Since the election for the post was consensus one Dhurba Basnet, who was President in the last EC, remains as NEFEJ President, with Arjun Dhakal as the Vice President. Subodh Gautam, who was Treasurer in the outgoing EC has been elected as General Secretary following a contest with Srilal Shah.
Similarly Pitambar Sigdel, who was member in the last EC is the new Treasurer while Pragati Shahi who was also a member in the outgoing EC is the new Secretary. The new members are Purna Hari Amatya, Gopal Tiwari, Dr Tanka Prasad Barakoti, Som Nath Lamichhane, Sashi Chalise, Narayan Sapkota and Dr Rajendra Gyanwali. The new EC has taken its charge effective October 21.
