Environment Ministry and NEFEJ signs a MoU

Government of Nepal, Ministry of Environment (MoEnv) and Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) have signed the Memorandum of Understading (MoU) on August 1, 2011 to work in collaboration for environment conservation and promotion, sustainable development, and climate change management. MoU was signed in the office of Ministry of Environment.

As stated in MoU, both parties will be working in cooperation for environment conservation and promotion, climate change resilience, sustainable development and the development of human resource for working in these areas. Similarly, NEFEJ will support the Ministry by disseminating the information of Ministry's activities through its tools (Aankhijhyal, Haka-haki, Face-to-Face, Hamro batabaran, Radio Sagarmatha and others) and also by providing the available audio-visual records, and training materials.

MoU further has affirmed that the Ministry will sought help from the Forum for the presentation of papers from Nepal in international conferences, other projects/programs of the Ministry, production of audio-visual materials and other works. Likewise, it will support NEFEJ for the collection of materials and resources for conducting the activities as mentioned in MoU.

Sunil Kumar Manandhar, Minister, MoEnv positively expressed," This MoU is expected to change the attitude of people towards the Ministry and establish itself as a public institution." Both the parties are positive towards the signing of Memorandum.

Uddhav Prasad Baskota, Joint Secretary, MoEnv, on behalf of MoEnv and Laxman Upreti, President, NEFEJ, on behalf of NEFJ signed the MoU. The MoU is signed for one-year; however, this may be renewed based on the success and evaluation of activities of one year.

Krishna Gyawali, Secretary, MoEnv, Tika Ram Rai, Executive Director, NEFEJ, Bhairab Risal, Senior Journalist, NEFEJ, Nimesh Regmi, General Secretary, NEFEJ, and other representatives from both parties were present in the MoU signing ceremony.

Uddhav Prasad Baskota, Joint Secretary, MoEnv, on behalf of MoEnv and Laxman Upreti, President, NEFEJ, on behalf of NEFJ signed the MoU.
